The project

Today the world needs more than ever a humanizing education that is capable of forming a new generation of conscious and autonomous young people, capable of building a society founded on a culture of peace, empathy and love for others, cultural freedom, in economic fraternity, equal rights and opportunities, respect for all differences and environmental sustainability.

For more than 60 years, a rich humanizing pedagogical experience has been accumulating in Brazilian Waldorf schools, which can and should be shared. To contribute to this objective, we created the Ruth Salles Institute Portal three years ago, to provide pedagogical support to parents and teachers, and to promote Waldorf Pedagogy. Today he receives more than 10,000 inquiries per month, including all Portuguese-speaking countries.

Collection and access

In this Portal we currently have more than 550 posts with pedagogical principles, contents and practices, and we are publishing the complete collection of poems, short stories, chronicles, jesters, songs and plays created, translated or adapted by the poet Ruth Salles over more than 50 years of work, in addition to content from other contributors. 60 chronicles and texts on pedagogy, 80 tales, fables and legends, 110 pedagogical poems, 107 plays including 100 musical scores, 205 videos and many other interesting content and information for parents and educators have already been published. We also disseminate literature and academic works on pedagogy, the relationship between Waldorf schools in Brazil and courses for teacher training.

We also produced more than 120 of the published videos, in addition to dozens of others that we selected and shared, all of which are also available on our YouTube channel. Our collection is freely accessible.

Why do we need you!

All the work of creating, maintaining and updating the Portal since March 2017 was voluntary, including the capture and editing of more than a hundred videos. In order to be able to act in a more productive and sustainable way, we need financial support. That's why we're launching this subscription campaign.

We need your support to maintain it, always improve it and make it better known by educators and parents in Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries, with free 100% access. With a small monthly fee you can be part of this collective effort.

We follow the original impulse of Rudolf Steiner, who created Waldorf Pedagogy so that it would become a pedagogy for the people. Come with us!

Historic

We have been working since 2002, providing courses for public school teachers, editing books, conducting research and maintaining the website of Instituto Artesocial, precursor of Instituto Ruth Salles. Discover our history in this LINK.

Waldorf Pedagogy in the public network

It is part of our objectives to support the adoption of Waldorf Pedagogy or elements of it in public schools, as well as to encourage the creation of new Waldorf schools, including in the public network.

In 2019, we carried out a detailed survey of 14 public schools that adopted Waldorf Pedagogy, or elements of it, in their curricular proposal. We interviewed more than 90 people and the study is available at this link.

We verified in this research that one of the major obstacles for Waldorf Pedagogy to reach the public network is because it is little known by educators - who did not study it in their training - and by public managers. By expanding the reach of this Portal, we can help to change that.

What we want to do

  • Keep the site always up to date in terms of design and technology, in order to facilitate access to users.
  • Keep 100% free access.
  • Always expand the collection of knowledge, content and experiences that help to enrich the pedagogical practice of teachers from all over Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries.
  • Keep the register of Brazilian Waldorf schools and training courses for teachers up to date.
  • Professionalize our communication through the website and social networks.
  • Expand our dialogue with Waldorf schools to prospect and give visibility to works and content created by their teachers.
  • Produce and share videos of classroom activities that can help and inspire educators, as well as videos of pedagogical exhibitions and other school activities.
  • Facilitate access to musical content, including chord numbers and audios of published songs to help those who cannot read sheet music.
  • Interview educators, managers and parents to share opinions and experiences.
