Art as a pedagogical tool

Drawing is a pedagogical tool for everyday use in the Waldorf school. In addition to the students' notebooks being always drawn, the drawing supports all learning, from the playful experience of a story told by the teacher, which the 1st year student draws, to the artistic drawings of students in the larger classes.

It all starts with crayons, most used in the early years. The child learns to fill the entire page with colors, and the aim is to encourage drawing without contours, as these do not actually exist in real life. We don't see the outline of a person or object, we see colors that meet in juxtaposed planes.

We present below two photo galleries of these drawings, one with drawings from 1st to 3rd grade, and another with drawings by students from 4th to 8th grade. The first drawing of each year is indicated in the series. Includes drawings by students from Escola Waldorf Rudolf Steiner and Colégio Waldorf Micael, in São Paulo, and Escola Aitiara, in Botucatu – SP.
