Joyful arrival!
poem by Ruth Salles
The ship so mighty,
of white candles,
come on the high seas.
In clear bay,
in a safe harbor,
calm come give.
Heavy is the anchor,
and in the dark background
of the bluish wave,
already fast descends,
in the sand is stuck,
and the ship, anchored.
the brave men
come, happy,
from distant shores.
And the brown indians
receive, courteous,
good sailors.
“How white is the beach,
what green is the forest,
how blue is the sky!”
And the bold man,
praising the good God,
took off his hat.
