poem in Hexameter rhythm (six dactyls)
by Ruth Salles
Hexameter: (6 dactyls); the hexameter generally works by harmonizing breathing, but the child must have reached 11 years of age. Walk the long syllables and also the pause of breathing. Thus, one walks 8 long steps in each verse. In the example given there are always pauses in the final dactyl of each verse.
DANCE IN THE FOREST
fesok bairead no goodwhat. THE no Ipa yourece aclarare.
Teifrom tofrognah are harpast that heit wasSo to tocar.
How many soft songs sung in the moonlight.
Fairies lightly dancing, their wings starting to vibrate.
Flowers sway, and the wheat rises, wanting to spy.
Inside the houses, the men hear his murmuring.
They think the leaves rustle, the wind whispers in the air.
Only children understand that fairies are dancing,
and fall asleep happy, with the ball they will be dreaming.
