Rubens Salles

Master's dissertation presented to Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie as a partial requirement for obtaining the title of Master in Art, Education and History of Culture.

ANDThis work, carried out by Rubens Salles, creator and coordinator of the project, aimed to analyze how the teachers of the 1st cycle of elementary education, who participated in the Dom da Palavra Project, analyzed the contributions provided to their pedagogical practice by the proposed concepts and practices.

For data collection, structured questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and written and audio-recorded testimonies were used, as well as interviews and activities recorded on video, for further analysis and interpretation of data. In the five municipalities where the project took place, 125 teachers participated – considering those who completed the course with more than 70% attendance – and 102 were present on the days when the course evaluations were carried out, representing 81.6% of the participants.

The analysis allowed us to conclude that the Dom da Palavra project was evaluated very positively by the participants, because the practices and concepts worked on met the real needs of teachers and helped to solve day-to-day school problems. In addition, our training model proved to be in accordance with the concepts and proposals of several important and recognized authors in the academic environment, on how the continuing education of teachers should be carried out.
