The Leather Shoemaker

Impressão ou PDF

poem by Hedwig Diestel

translated and recreated by Ruth Salles

I am the shoemaker.
My name is Couro-Fino.
I make shoes all year,
whether big or small.

Who likes to go fast forward
want to order giant shoes:
ploc, ploc, ploc; pla, pla, pla;
every step goes from here to there.
Whoever wants to go to the woods will soon arrive!

Who likes to walk very slowly
want to order dwarf shoes:
click, click, click; ple, ple, ple,
from here to there, tiptoe,
every little dwarf knows how it is!
