Another project module
In the second half of 2008, we started the implementation of the Dom da Palavra project in Embu Guaçu, a municipality in Greater São Paulo, located 44 km from the capital, sponsored by the Mahle Foundation. It is a municipality with about 60,000 inhabitants, located in a region of springs, with a lot of green area of Atlantic forest. It has 11 elementary schools and 25 kindergartens.
We formed a group where half were kindergarten and elementary school teachers, and half were supervisors, pedagogical coordinators and school directors. Classes were held on 09/27, 10/04, 10/11, 10/25, 11/01 and 11/08, 5 hours each day. Five teachers from Colégio Micael, in São Paulo acted as trainers:
Cristina Maria Brigagão Abalos
Marta Andreucci da Veiga
Celina aparecida Norcia and Targa
Glaucia de Castro Araújo dos Santos
Adriana Betti de Oliveira e Souza

“The course exceeded my expectations, as it helped to review concepts, expand and enrich the baggage of knowledge and practice. Here at the school, when we get together to reflect and comment on the course, we all agree that its development is all geared towards rescuing the values that are essential for the formation of a complete human being.”

“The Gift of the Word course was very useful, the teachers were very confident about the topics developed, all of them were very calm and attentive. The dynamics presented were important, as they help to calm the children, improving their behavior in the classroom. The types of temperaments helped us to better understand the behavior of the students and the golden rules are very rich for us to know how to deal with children.”

“The time we spent together was very fruitful, both in terms of the companies, the visit to Colégio Micael, and the learning experiences. It is interesting to see how the word has an important power in children's learning, as well as realizing our own way of talking to the student. I really liked the dynamics, the music according to the content, the way of working on concepts and values.”

“It was a fun and very dynamic training, from which we were able to take advantage of and also reevaluate our concepts in relation to our work. I hope to use this method and develop the activities learned with the students, and that this work pleases them, in the same way that it motivated us.”

“Through the information obtained, I was able to reflect more on the activities and all the moments I spend together with my students. The course provided and offered us conditions to expand our knowledge and adapt them to learning situations in a pleasant and meaningful way. From everything that has been transmitted to us, I am making adaptations to my routine, introducing good ideas that have been experienced and are working.”

“The course contributed to my training, expanding my knowledge. I found it significant to know the temperaments, which contribute to the organization of our experiences. What aroused my greatest interest in the course was the constant practice of rhythm, a practice that we often do not realize and lose with it.”

“The course brought a new vision of the learning process and also new subsidies in relation to the behavior and temperaments of the students. From there, I realized that we have to look for methodologies that are more adequate to each case and each moment, or phase. The course made me reflect: “To what extent are we vitalizing our student, or making him sick, with the rhythm of our class?” and “The power of fantasy is like our body, it atrophies if not developed.”
