Aesop's fable
A horse and a donkey were walking along a road, followed by the owner. The horse didn't carry any load, but the donkey's load was so heavy that he could barely walk, so he asked his companion to help him.
The horse, selfish and ill-tempered, refused to give that help and the poor donkey soon fell dead on the way. The owner, then, still wanted to relieve him of the load, but it was too late, and so he had to put everything on top of the horse, along with the skin of the dead donkey.
Thus, the horse was forced to carry the entire load, still increased.
