Aesop's fable
A certain lion fell in love with a farmer's daughter and, desiring to marry her, went to his father and asked for her with all the formalities. As was to be expected, the good man refused, being stunned by the strange proposal.
The beast did not conform and immediately began to gnash its teeth and threaten everyone. The farmer then thought it wiser to pretend to comply with the lion's wishes, thus avoiding danger. I told her then that I saw no harm in giving up her daughter to him, but the lion had to let himself be pulled out his nails and teeth, so that the maiden would not be frightened. The lion was so enamored that he saw no inconvenience in it; but as soon as the farmer saw him without weapons, he clubbed him out of the house.
