Play based on the poem by Hedwig Diestel.

by Ruth Salles

The two little dwarves run away from the giant. Will they be saved?

CHARACTERS:
Choirs 1 and 2 / The Skinny Dwarf / The Pesadão Dwarf / The Giant Spreading / Mato (several children) / Pedra da Floresta (two children).

Each dwarf carries a full bag on his back. The children representing the bush hold branches of leaves, which are swung by them to rustle when the giant snores, yawns or howls.

Everyone sings at the beginning with the choirs. Then, in the spoken part, the characters they represent stand out from the chorus.

CHORUS (sing):
“Skinny and Heavy
where are they going
to look worried
everywhere?
So smart they are,
Skinny and Heavy,
why are you so afraid?
Whose is it? It's a secret?"
(While the choirs speak, the scene takes place in the front.
The little dwarves step lightly and slowly,
while the giant sleeps by the weeds.)

CHORUS 1:
– Skinny and Heavy
go your way;
carry silver in their bag,
step softly,
because who lives in this bush
It's the giant Strawberry.
(The giant roars, and the leaves rustle. The little dwarves
hurry by tiptoeing.)

CHORUS 2:
– Skinny and Heavy
each one goes silent.
If the giant wakes up, then...
take both and everything. (The giant snores. The leaves rustle.)
He snores and even shakes.
– Pass now, tiptoe!

CHORUS 1:
– Skinny and Heavy,
your bag taking,
almost without stepping on the ground,
run shooting. (The two run around the scene.)
You can already hear the Scatter
yawning there in the bush!
(The giant yawns loudly. The leaves rustle.)

CHORUS 2:
– Skinny and Heavy,
in the mountain entering,
go up soon then,
your bag taking.
And the giant, mumbling,
for the two goes out looking.
(The giant stretches, grumbles, and walks.)

CHORUS 1 (they stamp their feet on the floor,
while the giant cuts down the trees):
– Scrape and tear the brute
tall and short tree,
and rock the mountains so much
that a slope cracks.
Want to catch – what a fuss! –
Skinny and Heavy.

CHORUS 2 (the dwarves push the giant, who stumbles
and holds her hair in the cleft of the stones):
- Your disheveled hair
in a cleft it jams,
and the fool stumbles
with the nose to the ground.
What the hell are they,
Skinny and Heavy!

CHORUS 1 AND 2 (as the giant returns to the bush, muttering):
– Muttering in so-called,
goes the Scatter.
He limps and rubs his nose,
back to the bush.
Safe and sound with the bag,
Skinny and Heavy!!!
(The little dwarves put the bags down and shake hands.)
