Aesop's fable

A young man was sitting on the edge of a well and saw a thief approaching. Perceiving his intention, he pretended to weep bitterly. The thief then asked him what reason he had to be so distressed. The clever young man told him that he had come to draw water from the well with a golden pitcher, but the rope had broken and the pitcher was left below. As soon as the thief heard this, he took off his clothes and moved by greed went down to the well in search of what he couldn't find, because it didn't exist. The young man then grabbed the thief's clothes and started to run away.
