Aesop's fable
An old hunting dog, who had worked hard for many years, was sick and tired.
On the occasion of a deer hunting raid, he was the first to catch one of them. He grabbed it by one of the paws, but the teeth didn't have the strength to hold it well, and the deer managed to escape.
Desperate, the owner began to beat him with the whip. The poor dog said to him sadly:
— “Sir, do not strike your former servant; I would gladly serve him as before, but I lack strength. If I am not of great use now, remember the services I once rendered you.”
